About Us

Cassiopeia is a project devoted to sharing the beauty of astronomy through design, precision, and a deep appreciation for the night sky. Our online store features a specialized line of ancient astronomical instruments, star charts, and the well-known Cassiopeia Astronomical Calendar, along with a collection of astronomy-themed t-shirts.

The project began in 2015 with the creation of our first Star Chart, calculated for the latitude of Santiago de Cali and published in 2016. It was initiated by Marino H. Guarín S. and later jointly developed with Isabel Rondón Fernández, who currently leads Cassiopeia.
We spent almost two years designing this chart, placing each star one by one, with the goal of creating a precise and visually engaging representation of the night sky.

In 2017, we began developing the idea of an Astronomical Calendar, with the first edition released in 2018. Since then, Cassiopeia has produced six consecutive editions, highlighting the most important astronomical events of each year and promoting the work of Colombian astrophotographers.

Starting in 2018, we also began the handcrafted production of ancient astronomical instruments, all calculated by Marino H. Guarín S., including:

  • Armillary Spheres in 15 cm, 16.5 cm, 24 cm (antique style), and 30 cm.
  • Equatorial Sundials in horizontal, vertical, and cylindrical formats.

The production and fabrication of all Cassiopeia products have been carried out by Isabel Rondón Fernández, maintaining a constant commitment to unite science, history, and art in every design.

Our current Star Chart includes:

  • The 88 constellations of both the northern and southern hemispheres.
  • The 200 brightest stars, with magnitudes and spectral types.
  • The most notable objects from the Messier Catalog.
  • The Celestial Equator, Ecliptic, and Milky Way plane.
  • The 10 brightest stars in the sky.
  • Binary and multiple stars.
  • The main annual meteor showers.
  • A user’s manual for easier sky observation.

Cassiopeia was born from a love for astronomy and the history of scientific instruments. Every piece we create is designed to inspire curiosity, wonder, and a deeper connection with the cosmos.
